STOP THE SLUT SHAMING! πŸ˜‘🚩🚫❌

I have written this post because I feel it’s a topic that needs to be talked about.

We are in an era where feminism and women’s rights are more prolific and gaining more support and more media attention yet women are still tearing down other women based on their sexuality!

Did you see what that girl was wearing?”

β€œSomeone should tell her she looks like a streetwalker.”

β€œShe’s going to get a reputation if she’s not careful.”

β€œWhat a slut.”

Sound familiar? Everyone does it.

It’s so common that the term is in the Oxford Dictionaries, defined as: β€œThe action or fact of stigmatizing a woman for engaging in behaviour judged to be promiscuous or sexually provocative.”

Slut-shaming enforces a sexual double standard in which men can engage in sexual behavior freely without judgement or restriction, whereas women can only do it when it’s part of transaction that includes β€œtrue” love or marriage, it can’t involve her exploring her sexuality, God forbit liking sex enjoying herself loving freely and owning her body.

There should be the same standard of behavior for both.

By attacking and degrading girls for their sexuality – whether they are sexually active or not – this means that any action, no matter how small, can be interpreted and criticised as β€˜overly sexual’ – something society has long deemed women ought not to be.

From decades of Male views and societal views and opinions women are supposed to be virginal and innocent and only want sex with their husbands or boyfriends because the only real reason we should want to have sex is to have a baby.

Apparently, time has moved forward, but our way of thinking is still back in the 1950s.

The only opinion about what a woman chooses to do with her body or sex life that should matter is her own.

Slut shaming is sexist and a form of bullying.

Slut shaming is one of the prolific forms of bullying in high schools that young girls are struggling with nowadays which includes cyberbullying and sharing explicit pictures and it can have dier consequences.

As women, we face oppression from many different sources. Why add ourselves to that already-long list? There are a whole bunch of old white men throughout history always trying to dictate what we are allowed to do with our bodies isn’t it time to say no!

Stop tearing each other apart and start empowering other women.

Men need to be taught to respect women, to not pressure them into sex and that it is perfectly normal for a woman to enjoy sleeping with other men, the same standards of men should be applied.

Regarding women calling other women slut, we can no longer be part of the problem; we can no longer put down other women for what they choose to do with their lives. We should be supporting each other, regardless of what our own personal beliefs are.

Thanks for reading.

Until next time.
